I realize that the Kokopelli's are very 'cute'
little fella's and that they COULD represent a
thought that COULD be connected to the areas
around the Monument Valley and at a stretch,
MIGHT be associated with the crew (although
not me, yet) that's able to congregate there,
BUT, it has always tickled me that many folks
who use, or wear clothing or jewelry depicting
these characters don't seem to realize a
primary belief regarding their purpose.
Picture that 75 or 80 year old grandma walking
along, holding the hand of her 8, or 10 yr old
granddaughter, or 5-6 yr old great-granddaughter,
& they're both wearing a lovely MATCHING pair
of t-shirts, with one of the Kokopelli images on
each shirt. And maybe a matching necklace, too.
THEY ARE EXPECTED TO PROMOTE FERTILITY.!
Now if they could have anthing to do with the
reproduction of aircraft, I could certainly see
the connection.
But, for the use, or representation, of this
group of persons (most of whom are past the
time in our lives that we want to raise 1 more
rugrat) it would seem a bit out of character,
or, at least, inappropriate for the subject at hand.
Just a little rant on an insignificant subject.
