Hi Group

In process of mutilating cowl on Europa XS Mono to accept AeroSun 01-220 LED located just above radiator intake. Curious, has anyone made an in-flight adjustable Landing Light? If the answer is yes, could you use it as a Taxi Light as well? Any details and or pics would be appreciated. Thx. Ron P.

Not sure what this is? Adjustable aiming point?

Unless the fixture is narrowly focused, you should get usable coverage
for both landing and taxi with the exception possibly encountered with
a tail-dragger where the optimal landing light beam is aimed too
high with the tail down on the ground.

How would you proposed to 'adjust' the light from the cabin?

Hi Bob
The Europa is a Tail Dragger.
Thus if you have aimed when nose is a bit down to see runway, once flare begins you are chasing 747s.
I was hoping someone thought this through already. A Ray Allen actuator could work with switch and position indicator in cabin. Perhaps a spring loaded aims down default with flap that moves to up position as airspeed is increased? AeroSun is mounted in the middle of cowl below spinner so there is no left right adjustment necessary when changing vertical inclination.
I suppose a cable could work but would make cowl removal more of a nuisance. Really could probably get away with 2 positions. Perhaps a solenoid? Ron P.
