I get quite a bit of oil on the belly when flying acro. Most appears to come from the oil tank vent. It was suggested that I connect a hose between the oil tank vent and the preoiler. The stock metal horn remains on the crank case vent to providing venting to the front. I may put in an air-oil separator but wondering about this connection idea. [/list]

Good use of mist! Is it ok that the vent hose from the oil tank has to go uphill to get to the crank vent? I imagine this hose will fill with oil.

In the Mist of experimenting with vents at the moment (M14 Chang). On my Chang the Oil tank vents directly to to the mid case Vent and joins the mid case vent trumpet at its base. This is fairly common on late built Changs. This was there with the Housai before I went M14. The earlier ones vent the tank straight down the firewall. My Tank vent is like this:

I still get oil under the belly. seems keeping the Oil level down dramatically reduces the amount of oil splatter.
Question is what is an acceptable min Oil level. Housai based limits we know are min 13L. However M14 in YAK is min 10L for Acro and 8L min for other activities.
I have seen some mods with nose case vent T'd into the mid case vent then to the Oil tank ... then the hoping the Oil tank vent down the firewall is sufficient. Another mod is similar but an additional Oil tank vent is made down the firewall. .... still get oil down the belly. Another option taking the mid case vent line back to the firewall then down the firewall to atmosphere .... works like an old fashion road draft tube Oil everywhere !

Oily brain trust members:
What do you all think about adding a ball check valve to the bottom of the oil tank vent pipe? This would allow venting while upright but would close the standpipe when inverted and less than 1g which should prevent oil from filling the vent standpipe.

I wonder if I can find detailed instructions or even video guides on torrents? Has anybody tried searching there? I know for sure that torrents are rich with all kinds of stuff like books, series, films, and so on. In any case, I'll try my luck. Those who cannot access the torrents try through 1337x mirror right here.
