Hi Folks,
Does anyone happen to have the contact details of the gentleman who has the conventional taildragger aircraft that was started by Miles McCallum?
If I understand it correctly the design was done by John Wighton, the initial construction work was done by McCallum and the project was ultimately completed in recent times by someone else.
Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,
I don't have his contact details, but the aircraft is G-MLXP and is is now owned by Michael Davis. You are correct the original design was by Miles who is now my inspector and John did the stress work to get the design approved.
As a side note to this, I am currently working on another conventional tail dragger design that should be a lot easier to install than the Miles set up. There will also be no internal structure as it will mostly be contained in the wheel well. It too will use tri-gear legs similar to Miles' set up, it's early days yet but I hope to get a design to the LAA early next year and hopefully John will do some stress work on it (when I can contact him). So watch this space.

Hi Paul, Dave,
Yes, I have been in contact with John Wighton about the taildragger modification, the design work's being done through a company called Acroflight (acroflight.co.uk) in Essex. His latest email to me says they're looking for updates for the supply of parts which has necessitated some updating of the technical documentation.
There's also another option by Bob Berube shown on the Europa Club website (Build - Undercarriage tab) but I don't have any details on that.
Dave, I'd be grateful for more info on the mod you're proposing. I'm just starting work on the fuselage module and am keen to understand the impact of any of the options on what I need to build in or leave out.

I’m not sure if the Bob Berube’s option is available any longer. Another builder recently enquired and was told the brackets are no longer available. While the plans are available, the aluminum brackets used to mount the Grove one piece aluminum landing gear legs would have to be built using measurements of those currently in use.
