I know, spelling. Oh well.
You know since this board isn't doing a great deal right now I thought I put in a little plug for our beloved Kolb line. I think if anyone ever needs to know if TNK Company is a good company to deal with, there is certainly a bunch written here as testimony. My ramblings will be more about the plane line; Ultra, Fire, MK. and the others.
I guess I'm not much different than any other man (I can't speak for the women), in always looking at other planes, "eye candy". It seems like from day one after acquiring the thing you couldn't live without, you see or hear of other better, faster, cleaner, cheaper planes or what-have-you's. It never fails, then being a man, you look , like, desire, need , demand and then posses. that's our make-up.
Here I am after 11 flights in m Firestar and still looking on Barnstormers for that ...."God only knows what". I mean, after all, there isn't any way on Gods green earth that I know half the things this Kolb can do, or me with it. And I haven't been able to "wean" myself from that site. Every day, like getting up, I go look there for, again "God Knows what".
But yesterday was different, and this morning I did pretty good. I didn't visit Branstormers until late mid afternoon. Why, a few more weeks of this persistence, and continued sessions with my phicitrist, and I won't even remember what the name of that site was. Also yesterday, I took my camera with me. I took 10 or 12 (large 1 meg ) pictures of the area around my field, as I ventured out past the point where a man should fall off the edge of the earth, 5 to 7 miles range. Like a new Eaglet booted out of the nest, I flapped and flapped and grew ever increasingly more confident of my new ability to fly and "remember " where the field was. I still remember the first 3 or 4 times up for instructions, I lost the field every time, and all we were doing in retrospect was making a square circle!
Now I'm up with stick in hand throttle at 5400 RPM, flying level and straight in attitude. Hit the"on" button, wait for the lens to pop out and aim. Now something advertised in the Kolb catalog that I read time and time again, but didn't recognize that it would be a rarity in most planes. Ready? Are you on the edge of your seat sweating in great wonder if he will ever tell?
"GREAT VISIBILITY" the advertisement says for Firefly, Firestar, Kolbra, Mark III Classic, Mark III Extra and Slingshot! Now I understand something about flying that I didn't even consider before, because I expected it in any airplane....Great Visibility! I could take a picture for others from most any angle in the plane, but for me the pilot (driver to the ultra light people), "I HAVE great visibility. I think that make the Kolb line of planes the premium line. Enclosed yet open. What a feeling, It wasn't anywhere that good in the Challenger, and most assuredly not that good in a Cessna anything. What a view. If only the world knew our little secret, everyone would be flying. Can you remember finding that great little restaurant, with the great service, food and prices. Your own little secret. Well do you? And what did you do? You went and told all your friends! Now they make you take a number, pay high prices and slow service. Therefore...DO NOT TELL ANYONE HOW MUCH YOU LIKE FLYING! But if you slip and do tell your most intimate friends, tell them only in a Kolb!
I can see “Everybody’s house” from up here”, in Ohio, Ralph
Do not archive the ramblings of an old man!

Good report. You are right on. I use to think that the J-3 Cubs were
the ultimate flying experience. But, they do not compare with the Kolb
experience.
