Today Karen of Europa kindly sent me the prices per metre of rubber hoses exclusive of VAT:
"The prices of the fuel and oil hoses are as follows:

IH-000 6mm fuel hose : £8.80/metre

IH-001 8mm fuel hose : £9.00/metre

OIL/12 12mm oil hose : £28.75/metre"

Unfortunately she also informed me that Europa doesn't stock the considerably more expensive fuel hoses, which are better able to cope with ethanol.

So I have a couple of questions, particularly because I want to buy the right spec of each and not to spend more than necessary.

What length of oil hose do I need to order from Karen which would be sufficient for installation in an XS, without ordering too much?

What lengths of the two different sizes of fuel hoses do I need for an XS with a 912ULS engine, what are the specification numbers and who supplies these?

Thank you.

Hi Jonathan,

I'm just replacing the fuel and oil lines on my aircraft. I ordered 3m of Parker Push-Lok 836-8 from Listers (01215256485), cost was £100.61 incl VAT and del. I had about 400mm left over.

I needed 8 metres of 8mm (5/16) tube and 5 metres of 6mm (1/4) tube. I used Gates Barricade tube for carburettors, it's good for 50psi and is a bit more flexible than the injection hose. I couldn't get mine from the same supplier so I got the 6mm from https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/fuel-hose-gates-barricade-ethanol-proof-1-4-id-per-metre-gfh1025x.html and 8mm from https://www.partsinmotion.co.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_category_id=313&virtuemart_product_id=155116&Itemid=139 the 8mm hose was 7.5 metres on a roll which was 'just' enough.

Your aircraft may require different amounts from mine as they have all been built differently. 30min with a tape measure with the top cowl off and a bit of crawling around underneath should give you an accurate enough figure to order both sets of hoses. My aircraft is an XS mono with 912ULS.

Hope this helps
