Fred
thanks
How nice to hear from you - sorry for silence.
I was worried about this issue for my trip from Colombia to USA but in the event nothing happened.
I probably should think about securing the doors because i have a a full dynon system...but I am not sure if I can be bothered to re-work the doors etc. I seem to have my hands full with routine maintenance!
yours
Will

Has anyone got a clever solution for securing the aircraft doors - for example in a strange airport overnight?

Will,
Under some guidance from a locksmith, I’ve installed those cylindrical key locks often seen on vending machines.
If you’re interested, I’ll pull the interior cover plates and take some photos of the catch which prevents retraction of the shoot bolt.

So you simply embedded a threaded nut of some sort into the fuselage and use a torx head machine screw into the handle? Simple and effective. I like it. Will probably steal this idea. LOL Thanks.

Hi Mike
I'm using an elastic stop nut nut-plate I garbage picked from the hangar next door.
We're actually using a Safety Torx, you know the things you see in bathrooms: pin in center. Boy, if folks can protect bathrooms from people stealing doors and such, should work for Europa too! I'm using them to hold in instrument and avionics panels as well:

I think I took a flat head Safety Torx and turned a shoulder on it and using in door handle. Ron P.

Thanks Ron, I like the simplicity. Will gather the parts and install soon. Mike

Hi Group Forgot to mention I only have a Safety Torx on the port side to lock door handle. For starboard side using a knurled 8-32 7/16" long Stainless screw that screws into the starboard lever. The lever is tapped and there is a hole in the safety guard, so the lever is tied to the safety guard. If I don't trust someone can insert after they are in aeroplane. I purchased a 2 pack from Home Depot. Everbuilt 927-698 with numbers by the bar code:
8 87480 3508 0
