FWIW; I installed a 2x10 board on an adjustable sawhorse. I then covered the 2x10 board with thick moving blankets as padding. Then I lifted each wing, put one sawhorse about where the main spar is under each wing and lowered each wing down. This suspended the airplane so I could take the landing gear off and made it impossible for the airplane to fall down. You can see the setup in the attached pictures.

Remember to chock the front wheel during this procedure.

Thanks Doug, for the good idea and posting a pic, that makes for a good model to follow.

Galin, thanks for the info and example. I took a similar approach, it worked well and I was able to safely and easily work on the main gear.

Best,

BTW, I forgot that I wrote down my method of lifting up a wing for maintenance and posted it on my webpage. When I needed to take the landing gear off, I used this procedure on both wings and it worked great. You can find the .pdf file at:

Thanks Galin, I don't think I mentioned that I like your website, lots of good information. I downloaded the PDF, it's pictorially pretty complete and a good reference to how you accomplished the aircraft lift and support.

Thanks again,

Jeff
