Good Evening All,
I have suffered another cracked exhaust header and wonder it may be time for a replacement.

Hi Roger,For your information only, I replaced all the header flanges of the original Europa Classic Exhaust with the stronger recommended Rotax flanges that fit into the cylinder heads. They came with the engine. The Europa flanges were of poor quality and didn’t fit well.
Local engineer did it. Where are the cracks occurring?
Will venture over to the motherland soon and may be able to catch up with a pint?
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks Tim,
Latest failure 3” from stbd rear flange.
Nev once recommended supporting the rear silencer box to reduce stress on the headers…….
Do you think the steel becomes more brittle with age?
Hope to see you later in the summer!

Exhaust support would seem like a good idea. Has it been done by others and turned into an approved mod? I can’t see anything on Europa Club site re this.

Roger,It does seem the geometry of the header with the silencer makes it self supporting and the springs are really redundant. This is the original exhaust system 1996.
I have not had any cracking.

Roger, It does seem the geometry of the header with the silencer makes it self supporting and the springs are really redundant. This is the original exhaust system 1996.
I have not had any cracking.

 Thanks Tim,
Latest failure 3” from stbd rear flange.
Nev once recommended supporting the rear silencer box to reduce stress on the headers…….
Do you think the steel becomes more brittle with age?
Hope to see you later in the summer!

Hi Roger, For your information only, I replaced all the header flanges of the original Europa Classic Exhaust with the stronger recommended Rotax flanges that fit into the cylinder heads. They came with the engine. The Europa flanges were of poor quality and didn’t fit well.
Local engineer did it. Where are the cracks occurring?
Will venture over to the motherland soon and may be able to catch up with a pint?
Cheers,
Tim
