Group,
Are any of you using an ANR/ANC headset with your0 Rotax 912? Brand/model? Opinion?
The ANR headsets that I've looked at seem to focus0 on the lower frequencies, but the 912 produces a bit higher pitched sound,0 in my opinion. I didn't find a sound booth at OSH what made anything like0 the 912 sound unfortunately, but did mention that to the booth operators, so0 maybe in the future...

I have the Sigtronics ANR head sets and they seem to be OK with the 912 noise, but then I have never used them anywhere else to know if they could be better.

I have a the Flightcom Denali II but I can't recommend it at this time. The left earpiece started acting up after a year and it's totally dead now. I need to send it back for service but it's my only headset. I'd hate to have to buy another set just to get this one serviced..

I have a set of Soft Comm 90's...ANR. They tend to do a good job and are easy on the ears for any extended flights. I have been flying behind a 912s that pulls an Allegro 2000 through the air while I'm building my IV. I don't notice any high pitched noises untill I'm in the pattern and reduce the power at the numbers. It's not irritating or loud, I can just tell it is happening...sounds like background noise.

Luis,

I have a Yellow FlightCom Denali as well - and guess what the left earpiece
did?! The ANR was beginning to act up in both ears, but the left began to
make an intermittent squeal - loud enough that it was painful to the
ears...I sent it back for repair under warranty last week and just got the
loaner - I believe their warranty is three years??

Well atleast it is nice to know my Denali isn't the only one with this
problem Wink Other than that, however, the headset has given me three
wonderful years and 500 hrs of comfortable (and stylish LoL) flying...

Andrew

I have Lightspeed 30-3G headsets.
Very comfortable and when I press the button, things are very quiet. I0can still hear the drone of the 912 UL but soft noise.
I have tried Bose headsets but I could not notice any difference0in sound quality over the Lightspeed 30-3G, this was in a Cessna Cardinal. The Lightspeed's are a lot cheaper than the Bose.

My personal opinion. I think you will like the 30-3G's

That reminds me. My instructor uses the Lightspeed and he swears by them. I picked the Denali over the Lightspeed because I thought the Lightspeed looked big and clunky. The price is the same and the Lightspeed quotes a higher level of noise reduction. I'd go with the Lightspeed.

I have 2 sets of lightspeed and give them a very high rating. They work.
The sound quality from the other end is great as well. I have had others ask
if my Kitfox is running cause they can not hear any back ground noise. I
picked mine up on e-bay for a third of the cost of a new pair...it has
worked for me......

I use a LightSPEED 20XLc headset in my Classic 4/Rotax 912/ 2-blade Warp Drive and it is amazing the difference it makes. Communications are a lot easier and the prop beat is greatly attenuated.
