Could someone please post the method for0 resizing a ".doc" file again. I just looked at the W&B sheet that was0 posted for a series 5 and it came out 1028.5lbs. I'd like to have it0 available in blank form, but this file was over the 2 meg limit and is taking up0 unnecessary space. It seems to me that a separate downloadable program was0 required, or was it something already in the "windows' operating system. 0 I'm sure glad the list allows attachments now and don't want to violate the0 rules. My "picture program" has an easy file converter for JPG files that0 are stored withing it, but nothing outside of it.

Hello Bob,
The ".doc" format, proprietary of Microsoft Word, is never good to
attach to an email, unless it is, indeed, a formatted text document
such as a contract, letter of intent, or any business correspondence.
I understand that you are talking about a graphic file. Yes, some
people think Word is the fit-all format and put graphic in a Word
document. Unfortunately, once done, it is impossible to retrieve it as
the format has been changed to a somewhat heavier BMP (also a Microsoft
proprietary format) and useless thing like available typefaces are
added.
In my opinion, the only way to retrieve the graphic is to take a screen
dump of the document open, and then treat it as a graphic file.
If you send me the file to my private email, I'll look at it and try to
convert to something acceptable by the list.
Cheers,
Michel

Bob,
If it is a .doc file then your best choice might be to compress it
using something like WinZip.
www.winzip.com
I think generally the term "resized" is reserved for image files and
"compressed" is used for most other file types. The "zipped" file will
result in about 1/3 the original size after compression and will require
the recipient to have WinZip or another compatible utility to open it
unless it is made into a self extracting file. The self extracting file
is a little larger than 1/3rd the original and does not require any
program to open it. Whichever you think is best for your needs.
If you want to do it yourself you can try it out for free OR if you
prefer send the file to me and I'll compress it for you. I could also
make it available as a link so that interested folks can download it
however they like and it wouldn't cause any problems for us dial-up
users. Currently I'm using a high speed connection or I would hesitate
offering my help.
Note for all: JPEG files (photos) at any resolution are already about as
small as they can get. WinZip can not make them smaller so don't bother
trying. However, for simple viewing purposes all photos should be
resized using a photo editing program and MicroSoft Image Resizer is
great for this purpose. Here's a link to get it:
