If you follow the Construction Manual from ZAC, they recommend Scotch-Brite P/N 7447. These are stocked by Aircraft Spruce for $.92 each (see listing below) and I recently bought a box of 20 from my local NAPA auto parts store. Not that hard to find.

It only takes one to destroy an engine, ever drop the wingnut from an old aftermarket Ford flathead aircleaner into the carb opening of a running engine ?. NO, well I didn't either but I did help pull the old engine out & replace it with a new shortblock.
EEGADS.....wingnut, flathead, carburetor, shortblock..... I think I just dated myself as an old fart.
Old racer trick: New rings not seating, pour some Ajax or Comet in the carb., with it running of course, engine will not last as long BUT the rings will be seated for the race tonight. Ajax / aluminum oxide hummmmm.
