From time to time, I read a message regarding a  post, and stating a photo is attached, or I have read messages where list  members have discussed photos they have seen.

  

 Question...How do I view photos posted on the  list.

It all depends on the mail reader you are using and the setting of it. E.g. on my Macintosh, with the reader Mail, I see the photos as part of the email. When checking my email on a PC, at work and via my provider's web site, it comes as a name on the top of the email. When I click on it, it opens a new window in Microsoft IE and shows the JPG or GIF file in it.

Does it sound complicated? I agree. I used to love computers for what they could do. Now I have started loathing them for their unnecessary complexity.

The photos being posted to the List are coming  through OK on my machine Howard.  Apparently you have a configuration  problem.  You need to get into your "tools" and poke around.  Depends  a lot on which email software you're using.

I echo what the others have said. In addition, if you just  have the digest version, the photos are stripped off the emails. You have to get  individual emails to get photos.

If they are in .jpg format just double click the link and your photo 

application should open them. Most times, depending on your email 

tool, the link will appear at the bottom of the text. Some tools put 

the link in the header? Have you verified that your settings are such 

that you have told your machine to not capture attachments? If so 

then the attachment icon in you mailbox list will not appear.

I too only get the digest and have had the same question as Howard. I can look at the latest pictures of the Germany flight by Michel because they show up as a link (Makes me jealous I am not yet flying, especially over country like that!). However, the other day someone mentioned they put pictures up of a rudder trim they did. I went online to the “Kitfox – List – Thread” webpage and tried to find pictures…but I am at work and at least have to get something non-airplane-related done occasionally!

Yes, it is because you subscribed to the Digest that you can't see the 

attached photos, Don. Nothing particular of Matronics, Yahoo does the 

same. The reason is: when you receive an email at the time, the hosting 

server doesn't have to store it, it is a receive-dispatch operation.

In the Digest mode, the server stores all emails for a certain time (a 

day, a week) then send it to all Digest subscribers. That could be 

quite a file if there was many large attachments that day or that week.

Those of us who have some place on a server (usually, a part of your 

internet provider's package) and who can write simple HTML codes, it is 

easier for everyone to post photos there, as I do. For those who don't 

want to write HTML, there are turnkey packages that does it for you. A 

kind of slide projector on the internet. You surely have visited some 

of those before.

Thank you. Whenever I fly, I like to take some photos to share the 

experience with friends. This particular flight to northern Germany 

wasn't very special, the countryside being rather flat. But I hope my 

friends over the Atlantic enjoy seeing parts of Europe, just as much I 

love seeing your beautiful country from the air.
