Hello All,
Jabiru USA will host a Zenith 601 / 701 installation seminar at our location
in Shelbyville, Tennessee. The seminar will take place Oct 20 - 22, 2006
and run from noon Friday the 20th thru noon Sunday the 22nd.
The seminar will be presented by Mark Stauffer who manages Jabiru USA's
builder assist program. Mark is a 601 builder and he will use his fuselage
and firewall forward kit to demonstrate the installation procedure.
The seminar includes lunch on Friday and Saturday. Cost for the seminar is
$175.00 and class size will be limited to 10.
Check the Jabiru USA web site on Monday for more details, the seminar
syllabus, and class schedule. A registration form will be on line as well.
Please call Jabiru USA at 931-680-2800 if you need more info but wait until
everything is posted next Monday.

Hi Pete,
Please let me ask a couple of quick questions. Perhaps other list
users have the same ones . . .
1. Do you think the course is required for anyone planning to use a
Jabiru 3300? Are the documents included with the engine and/or FWF
kit sufficient for a loner to do the job without the seminar?
2. How much time should a builder plan for the actual installation
in his own plane? Is this task something that takes hours? days?
weeks? months?

Take a look at this URL on the JabiruUSA web site:
http://www.usjabiru.com/Zenith%20fwf.htm . There you will find links that
amount to an installation "photo guide" so that you can see what the
installation process looks like. The time it takes varies a lot. For me,
with little experience, it took 4-5 weekends and the help of a technical
counselor. Putting together the aeroquip fittings was the hardest thing for
me. I believe that I read recently that someone else did it in a weekend at
Michael's place on the west coast.

Thanks for the response. I gather the engine installation is doable
in something between a few days and a few weeks.

Yes, Jim McCormick of Jabiru Pacific ran a installation seminar at Quality
Sport Planes the weekend of September 8th. The engine was uncrated Friday
morning and spun the prop around 3 PM on Sunday.
If you are buying one of these engines you should really try to attend an
installation seminar.
I've attached some (very small) pictures.
