Hello Ernie:

Are you looking to ship your newly-assembled rudder as checked baggage?

DON'T !! Baggage handlers will make that thing unusable - look what they do to perfectly good luggage !!!!

My opinion is to pay the $$$ for crating and shipping and let it go via UPS. Another suggestion is to leave the rudder at Zenith and have them ship it to you with the tail kit you WILL order after you have so much fun at the rudder workshop.

Have a GREAT time !!

Ernie you probably don't want to hassle with that. It might get mishandled and dented in transit anyway. I foyu are impressed enough to want to order the complete kit or one or more sub-kits, just have Zenith ship the rudder to you with the kit. That's what I did and it arrived nicely padded all safe and sound in the crate. Didn't need the rudder hanging around before the rest of the parts got here and it did not cost any extra to get it here.

Enjoy the workshop and I hope you like the demo flight enough to start building the rest. Which plane are you interested in?

Eriie . . . it's pretty big, and it's fragile from a dent standpoint.
Why not let ZAC ship it with the rest of your tail kit? I wouldn't risk
taking it on the plane homr. If you decide not to go ahead, you
probably won't want the rudder anyway. Robert Schoenberger, 701

Thanks everyone.

Looks like it will be shipped by zenith.

Not sure what I was thinking, I guess it would have worked itself out there.

My plan is go component plan starting with Tail, Wings, Fuselage, or tail fuselage wings.

Ernie-
Here's my two buck's worth:
If you can get through the stab and elevator without a hitch, you've got it made. You also get all the skills you need for the rest of the project.
I think all kit providers start with the rudder because it's the cheapest, but completing the stab and elevator will give you more skills, confidence, and everything else you need to actually finish a project. A bit more expensive, but a better indication of things to come.
