The annual Show and Shine event in Cameron Park will be held on Saturday
October 7th this year.
This event is sponsored by the Cameron Park Soroptomists. It is open to
Classic Cars, Hot Rods and Airplanes. If this year is anything like the
past, there should be close to 100 Automobiles from all over Northern
California and Western Nevada. These cars border on the Must See variety
and the airplanes have been sort of a side show in the past. There will be
lots of vendors, food and otherwise.
This year the organizers are trying to make the airplanes a larger part of
the event and have increased their efforts in that area. There have always
been awards given airplane owners in at least three catagories.
If you are planning on coming, arrive early, before 0700 and use the North
taxiway (Land on Runway 31 and continue to the end and make a left when able
on the taxiway that will intersect Boeing Road). There will be tons of
pedestrian traffic so arriving late or leaving early won't work. Plan on
leaving about 1700 when the crowd begins to thin. If you have a nice clean
airplane, you will be in the running for the award. I have four and my
airplane is definitely not spectacular.

a gathering spot.
