|
|
I am installing the fuel gauge senders in my tanks tonight. It seems like I should turn the units so the float is near the front of the tank so that it will read full when it really is completely full since the tank is tapered. Any thoughts or suggestions?
After driving down to California yesterday and touring the shop, I decided to order an Xtreem IO-360 from Eagle Engines. (which I did today). Looks like I'm really committed for sure, or at least I will be if my Wife finds out how much I spent.
Thanks

It's most important for the gauge to read accurately near the bottom of the scale, that's when you really need to know how much fuel you have left. If it takes a while to move off the full mark, it's not a big deal.

My 801 flies and sits on the ground in a nose high attitude, If the float was positioned forward it would indicate a lower fuel level then actual. Just my opinion......

I was going to point mine 90 degrees from the edge and at the time I was installing mine I'm pretty sure there was some backup to that thought but I can' t remember, I do agree with Ben as to not put it pointing to the front and the further back you aim it will keep it on full longer than the true reading. You can also nit pick trying to figure out all the pro's and con's of all these senerio's like we all have done throughout the project or just point the thing in the middle and forget about it!

Hi Tom,
I called ZAC today to ask them. Not sure who I talked to, but since he had
an accent I figured it was someone important. He said to just mount it
spanwise, which is what I thought it should be also, but I'm always open to
suggestions and someone else's experience.
