Many if not most of you other free spirited drivers will enjoy this sound tape. Since it is rather small and is sound only, you slow hook-up individuals can access it also.

Very fitting in the light of all the bad guys with guns and the regular joes unable to defend themselves.

Packing at our airport here in Ohio, Ralph.

Hey Ralph,

What is the relevance to anything Kolb related.

We all have access to the internet and can find that kind of stuff for ourselves.

From the Kolb-List Usage Guidelines;

The purpose of the Kolb-List is to provide a forum of discussion for
things related to this particular discussion group. The List's goals
are to serve as an information resource to its members; to deliver
high-quality content; to provide moral support; to foster camaraderie
among its members; and to support safe operation. Reaching these goals
requires the participation and cooperation of each and every member of
the List. To this end, the following guidelines have been established:

- Please keep all posts related to the List at some level. Do not submit
posts concerning computer viruses, urban legends, random humor, long
lost buddies' phone numbers, etc. etc.

Cap'n., In your list-be-nots, you left out an more sinister object: the quoting ad nauseum of the post(s) under scrutiny. Just a precis should be sufficient, especially when the thread threatens to become a hawser.

Well your all right. Do not archive. I carry, and I am an instructor in Ohio and do carry in my plane and all our drivers carry at our field. I drive a Kolb.

I believe that covers all areas of conversation, short of the Big gumn is a 1911 Colt full size military issue firing Plus P Powerballs. The double barreled Darenger is out of Texas and is known as the Bond Arm snake killer. It is a Colt LOng and 410 slug pistol, good for apporximatly 15 feet with accuracy.

Oh Ralph

Not too excited about all the asides; some just bore me, and usually I am
viewing the list to learn more about getting the red recalcitrant Kolb
safely airborne and back again with me aboard and packing, but packing
camera or cameras when upstairs. Found long ago that there is this little
gadget built in computer programs called "Delete" a cousin to the "Blab off"
or "Mute" button on the TV to allay the unwanted. It works. I use it.

That aside; on a flight from Nairobi to Addis Ababa, I learned the
Ethiopian, trim, green-jacketed guys who checked my luggage carefully and
visually also carried it to the plane then flew to Addis with us as
stewards. A few weeks before, I learned, a "terr'ist" tried to take over one
of their planes and they merely carved him to pieces.

Wonder, Russ, what a .22 hp would do passing through the aluminum and how
that might effect depressurization of a 757 at 35 grand...? I don't know
too many airline pilots who are trained with weapons and I haven't met any
of the sky marshals, that I know of. Not sure what they pack, or what their
groundrules are on type bullets or calibers or use.

Now, should I fly the Mark III with that gigantic vertical trim removed or
not? Taxied and hot taxied and seemed like I had some rudder effect on the
ground without the 12x7" hunk of bent aluminum on the tail...? What's the
worst scenario?

You might try it without the rudder trimtab. My Firestar doesn't have or
need one, a Mark III that I owned for a while did not have or need one. By
all means leave it off if you can. The worst that is going to happen is that
you will have to hold some right rudder to keep going straight.

Thanks Larry, exactly what I thought, I was holding a heavy foot of right
rudder before I got the red one trimmed over time. Dennis in ABQ said if I
were still holding right rudder with that trim tab on, it should probably be
turned to the opposite direction. Makes sense. So I took it off as an
intermediate step. One friend who runs Intermountain Air in SLC, Utah, an
A&P, builder and really knowledgeable guy, Arnie Richins, said a beveled
length of balsa taped to vertical trailing edge of rudder with "fat" edge
back would be a good test and could be added easily to whichever side needed
it and even painted to match if it became a permanent fixture.
