Fellow Europaphiles,
I have come to the conclusion that I do not like the fuel vent system as per installation instructions.  I know there are a number of other venting schemes out there.  I'd appreciate it if any of you could point me to any pictures and descriptions of these alternates.

Thanks in advance to all.

Good building and great flying,

Bob
The europa owners forum (www.europaowners.org) has some pics of our set up (G-GIDY) - page two of the gallery under fuel mods. Although it has PFA approval here in the UK we are not yet flying or filling the tank so can't vouch for its effectiveness.  I know others have vented from the tank upto the filler then back down to area around the flap dive rod. I can't find any such pics but Graham Singleton may be able to oblige??

Hi all,

Some time ago I read on the forum and idea of providing backup fuel tank vent by using a one way value inside the cabin. Does anyone recollect who that was, and even better, what type of valve was used.

Thanks,

Hello Paul

"Does anyone recollect who that was, and even better, what type of valve
was used."

Try:
http://www.mcmaster.com/
search 1 way valve
read about check valves

Order a few different types and let us know which one you like.

Take a look below at:
Nylon Body with Viton Diaphragm
PVDF Body with Viton Diaphragm

Crack pressure is under 1 PSI, I don't have a feeling just how low a crack
pressure you want. A 1 liter soda bottle with a hole in it to stick in
place a tygon tube connected to your 1 way, and suck on threaded end
should give you a very good feel for what you want.

Once you select a good crack pressure put it in a bottle for a while with
Mogas, and another with 100LL, then check function again. After fuel test
let bake in sun for a while on the dash of your car for a week and try
again.

We know Viton is probably good. Nylon you see being used in fuel systems,
but you need to be careful as there are different types of nylon. PVDF I
am not familiar with, but think it is well worth a $11.05 test.

This is on page 441 (has picture):

Diaphragm Check Valves
• Maximum Pressure: 15 psi
• Cracking Pressure: Less than 1 psi
These valves have a three-piece design for air applications. They
have a free-floating diaphragm coated with silicone lubricant to assist in
sealing, can be cycled as fast as once per second, and operate in any
position. Use with soft thermoplastic tubing. Note: Cv factor not rated.
Connections: 1/8" sizes have straight ends without barbs; all others have
barbed ends.
Polypropylene Body with Viton or Fluorosilicone Diaphragm— For
corrosive external environments. Temperature range is -40° to +180° F.
Color is translucent white.
Nylon Body with Viton or Fluorosilicone Diaphragm— For higher
external-temperature applications. Temperature range is -70° to +250° F.
Color is translucent white and black, except 47245K17 which is
translucent white and gray.
PVDF Body with Viton Diaphragm— For external applications requiring
superior chemical and abrasion resistance. Temp. range is -70° to +250°

Ron,
I must have missed part of this thread so tell me if I'm wrong here.
Are you talking about a valve that will open automatically should the
vent tub become clogged, and if so what catalog/company does your page
numbers refer too? I would like to mount one in the filler tube venting
it into the cabin.
Thanks,
Jeff

You must have missed my first post.

For first post.

I saw a few 1 way valves that tweaked my interest and listed them in 2
posts.
