A short time ago this was discussed on this List.  No real conclusion was reached, but I can offer this:

I had two new 1080HD bungees laid out side-by-side three or four years ago; there was a noticeable difference in the two.  One was about 1/2 inch larger in overall diameter.  The smaller one had a thicker cross-section.

Both came from Spruce at different times (about three months apart).

Leads me to think that there is some variation in the assembly process by the manufacturer.

Both were nothing more than bunch of rubber bands with cloth covering, so I would suggest that if it "fits" and works okay then there shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe others will offer better advice.
