I got my nifty Matco parking brake dodad recently, but it didn't come with a
mounting bracket. Anyone else have tips on how to mount this puppy? I'm close
to riveting on my fuse skins and would like to get this done before access
becomes an issue.

Thanks in advance for responding...

Cheers,
Jay

Here is one I built. Needed to be a little longer so the cable sheath would
have something to secure to. Would also make the base and doublers a little
bigger so all the holes in the fire wall would be covered.

Here's a link to a couple of pics on how some of us have done it. I
can't remember the part #, but if you are not using a carburated engine
there is an extra part that can be adapted to serve as the mount.

Look at this page. I used the same part as Deems. I believe it is used to
mount a Facet fuel pump, but is not used if injected. The bracket for the
cable I made from scrap. Picture is about half way down the page.

Adjust the arm so when knob is in all the way, valve is open. When knob is
pulled out, arm will contact the end of the cable sheath. I don't think you
need any more positive than that.

Is a parking brake required? Necessary? Opinions?

It's not required or needed until your away from your home airport and
the only parking in transient hard surface has a slight grade to it, and
you're the only occupant. Wink

If you fly into Bullhead Laughlin and go to the lower GA ramp you do....makes life a bunch easier by yourself to keep the airplane from rolling while you get out and chock it and tie it down...you DO tie it down right??? Wink

So, I have to put in those little rings, too?

Ok, enough of this. There was a discussion at some point about the PITA of
the parking break, especially sticking parking breaks. I've actually never
had to use a parking break, other than making double sure the breaks were on
during run-up, and, given the little brain, did not think of the obvious.

Just place the transmission in Park and Forget-about-it. It only
matters in San Francisco.

"Park" would mean that it's an automatic, no clutch so ya gotta push it to
45 MPH to get it to turn over & start. (from a very old joke)
