Looking for ideas for an early Firestar large fuel tank... I have a 6 gal. tank mounted forward of the engine (above the engine/wing mount tube) and I'd like to have another 10-12 gals. for the rare occasions that I'm a long way from a station... The area of the cage where the original tank resided is not shaped to install over-the-counter tanks, other than a 5-6 gal.container...

Thanx...

David, Have you considered a composite tank built to fit exactly where you want?

Yes Rick, that's where I'm headed... I was hoping that I didn't have to "reinvent the wheel/tank" if there was already something out there that would work...

Thanx...

What's the max size you can handle (LxWxH) - a Challenger 10 gal tank might work?

I'll measure and check... It has to be a semi-triangular shape...

For what it's worth. I put a Titan Tornado 10 gal tank in my Firstar. I had to cut one of the diagonal braces just behind the seat to get it in. I then sleeved the tube and put it back in it's original place. The tank sits on the boom tube just behind the seat. Seems like I gave about $60 for it. Also plumbed to draw fuel from the top. I don't believe in poking holes in the bottom of fuel tanks. It is not a question of if it will leak, but when.
