<"according to Ed Downs "Kitfox Pilots Guide"  Model 2 was serial numbers 258 to 448 and Model 3's are 749 to  1215.">

  

 Interesting.  My Model 2 was  #606.

For what its worth, looking at how the serial numbers were assigned, I would bet the serial numbers listed for the Model 2 in Ed Down's book is a miss print.  Seems more likely to me that the 2's would be numbered from 258 to 748.
