I am in the process of purchasing a KitFox, and need a way to get it home.

If you just need to get it home, rent a U-haul truck 1-way. That's what I
did, Ft. Worth to San Diego in a 24' box.

Personally, if the airplane is flyable the safest way is to fly it home.
If that isn't possible, then trucking is a good way to do it. However, I
seem to recall that many years ago a member here on the list transported his
a long distance and when he got home he found a lot of damage including bent
longerons, broken tail spring, bent motor mount, and some other serious
things that I can't recall. The reason was that those vans are sprung to
haul enormous weights and with a 500 lb Kitfox they ride as if they're
empty, which means not smooth, especially at the back where the ride is the
harshest. So, when transporting this way ensure it has as much cushion as
possible. One way to cushion the tail is to elevate it with a couple of
inner tubes and the whole thing bungied to the floor. Removing the engine
and bolting the whole mount to the floor might help also. I think someone
said he removed the wings and strapped them to the sides of the box while
they rode on inner tubes.
These are just a few things to be aware of, but with some thought I'm sure
it would be safe.
