Hello List, I'm trying to decide if I should cover the butt rib to fuselage with fabric with the pre sewn fuel tank window, sold by the new Kitfox, or purchase the seals offered by Merle Williams and or Blue Sky Aviation. Anyone out there have photo of these seals, I like to see what they look like before purchase them or maybe someone out there has some other suggestions? I've looked through the Sportflight photos but see anything that would help.
Thanks

Dan, I used the Merle Williams seals and like them. I didn't cover the
ribs but sanded and varnished them. In most lighting conditions, I can see
the fuel level through the tank wall.

Attached are three photos. I found this area tough to photograph to get a
real clear indication of what they really look like. If you want another
angle, drop a note.

Dan,

There are several ways to do this.

I have a model 7 and decided to use:

1) a polycarbonate window on the outboard side of all of the buttrib holes.
2) a piece of aluminum bonded into the space from the buttrib & fuselege
between the door hinges
3) a cuff bonded at the door hinge points to seal the ends
4) nothing on the inside structure where the flexible window would normally go
- just a clear view of the inboard end of the wing & fuel tank

I decided a clear view into the end of the wing was not going to bother me at
all.

Thanks for info Dave. I think I will cover the buttribs as you did. What thickness of aliminum did you use for the under side cover?

Thanks again
