Question for all. When you service the main Ldg strut with Nitrogen ( 735 psi ) is it with the
plane on its wheels or on the jacks? I can not find any ref to this in the books.

Hi Tom;

Either way, doesn't matter. Sruts are fully extended at that pressure with the A/C weight on them.

Pressure for mains is 48 ATM (700 psi) and nose 20 ATM (290 psi)

Cheers

Walt

Depends what you mean by servicing. Checking the fluid level or changing it requires putting the airplane on the jacks and releasing the pressure in the shocks to remove the valve. I say changing it because you on't really know how much is in there without draining out the old. Go by the book when adding a measured amount of fluid and the replace the valve and pressurize.

BTW, a bit of Granville strut seal worked wonders for my shocks.
