As I understood it from Termikus, the difference is in the wingtip washout along with something about the I bolt mounting point. He was pretty emphatic about the two wings not being interchangable. If they were, would we still have a 9 g wing if it were changed out to the TD wing. If that could be done, it would save alot of engineering to create gear that fold in verse back along with moving the oil cooler to a more esthetic place under the wing. You would also get additional fuel, a 10 meter cross wind capability, and flaps. Although somewhere I recall there was a tabo on flaps with the location of the pilot and the creation of an aft CG. That brain bit has developed cobwebs or was just deceased, I can't remember!

Tim,
What are we talking about? Have seen the 53. Prefer the Taildragger to
another nose dragger since I still have my 52 all be it minus the engine
right now. That will change in the near future thought. We have a 18P in
bound also. It will also take up residence at 08A along with the other 9
YAKs on the field. We are trying to displace the Spam Cans entirely from
08A! Probably can if we keep doing overhead breaks stringing their 3 mile
bomber downwinds and base turns out!
