- Lori offer's a nice sunshade for the CH 601 at $150: 530-585-2515.
- Zenith is offering a "Jump Start Kit" for the 701. "Virtually all

- Zenith recommends a update to the bottom plate of the main gear legs of

fork doubler 6L1-3HD. Zenith will sell you a new gear leg 6L1-1 for $58 each
plus shipping and handling.

A little Googling turned up her web site. Note that it lives under the web
site for Michael Heintz's Quality Sport Planes in the wine country of
northern California:
www.qualitysportplanes.com/qsp-2006_052.htm
Her number is not the same as QSP and her area code (530) is for northeast
California. It appears she is based in Red Bluff, California.

Craig-
God you had me worried! FYI retro 601 builders, I took delivery of kit
#4915 in 2/03 and it has the 3/16" plates. That'll give you a rough
benchmark.

Craig-
I think reporting the highlights of the newsletter on the list is a
great service, and thank you for doing so. Why doesn't Zenith publish them?
It's not like we're not customers!
Seriously, the last thing I wanted to hear after assembling my gear was
that I had to tear it apart again.
Here's a visual for you- this middle aged maniac builder running out
through the garage in his stocking feet brandishing a pair of calipers....

Thanks Craig,
The postal "newsletter" has allways been a puzzle to me, as it doesnt appear to come from New Mexico or Ontario and subscribing from the other side of the world becomes too difficult.
I have relied on the builders section of ZAC site for the updates, however a few things have not been noted there (for which I emailed ZAC directly and got 000) such as;
on 701 the reason for the elevator rigging to become tight or loose depending upon aileron position and whether this could be fixed by bending or packing the elevator control horn so the cables attach at the centerline rather than offset
on 701 the reason for the change at rev.4 to one only flap extended position of 16 deg and any handling notes changes - revised VFE? -
If there is any reference in the newsletter to the above I would appreciate knowing it but as others have mentioned we would have expected important information or back issues to have come with our set of plans or posting on the builders section
Thanks again for showing us some of whats available

Hi All
I must also chip in and add my 2 cents worth, in respect to my fellow Zenith builder over there in the land of the long white cloud( New Zealand, for all of those not in the know) .
It is dificult for us people outside of the USA to send off money in the hope that what you think you are getting is what you really get.
I contacted the lady by email and asked for an example ( back issue) of the zenith newsletter so I could evaluate it before sending my money. She could not.. I also asked why she couldn't Email it as an attachment? couldn't do that either. So as a current XL builder what do you get for your money?
In the end I just gave up and hoped that the information for any changes would be in the drawings update on the zenith web and word of mouth..
I run the Aussie XL builders newsgroup and its free and sent out via Email.
Chris.

Chris,
You get a pretty well done newsletter six times a year. Well worth the small subscription. Sometimes has some very good and useful information about building a zenith airplane. Course, I do not know what it might cost for subscription to New Zeland, but don't think it is very much.

Chris,
I agree. Seems pretty bizzarre these days for the 'official' newsletter to be coming from a place other than an official factory, and to be postal mail only! I never bothered with it for exactly that reason. If it isn't easy to get, forget it and get on with building!
Anyway, I'd been interested to read your newsletter from 'down under', as I'm sure would the rest of the list. Maybe you would consider posting it (or a link, or a back-issue)?
Thanks for clearing up that white cloud issue. I must come see it for myself this year.
Cheers,
