Hello Group,
The tip canopy skin C-702 attached to the frame
when lifted interferes with the F-771 skin only in the
area between the hinge line but outside of the hinge
points every part of the C-702 skin moves nicely away
from the F-771. What have builders done to alleviate
this interference so they can open the canopy? I could
notch out a section of the F-771 skin between the
hinge points but that would look almost as hokey as if
the C-702 was shimmed higher than the F-771? Any help
is appreciated. John RV7A.

Chop chop, shim shim. You'll have a gap either fore/aft or up/down.

Thanks Dan,
I just got an email from Ken (at) Van's and he
indicated that their plane has a .050 gap in that
area. Since the rivet line on the C-702 extends back
aways from the skin edge, does the shim almost have to
extend to the edge to get the lift needed to get the
desired gap? Would a slot cut in either the F-771 or
C-702 be preferable to shimming? Thanks.
