I have a new Jabiru 2200 (85hp) installed in a Murphy Maverick with an Icom IC-A200 panel mount VHFand an external antenna mounted throughthe fuselage skin midway between the cabin and fin using the fuselage for a groundplane.
I am picking up ignition interference when receiving which increases with engine speed.
I have tried running the radio from an independant power supply to eliminate installation wiring and still get the same problem, which seems to indicate that the antenna is picking up the radiated noise.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cure the problem? Would a smaller insulated ground plane help?

If you havent seen this subject on the jabiru-engines yahoo group then have a look in the files section for plots and cures of this common problem. My 2200 was helped most by
changing HT plug leads to Bosch inductive suppression leads type 385
adding ferrite beads to coil HT leads
I intend to change to R plugs next

Hi Geoff,
I was getting terrible interference in an Icom A200 radio (&intercom) in my Jabiru LSA-55, which increased with engine revs. It turned out that I had anchored a relay (which had been left "floating" behind the panel on it's wires) to the firewall with velcro. The vibration through the firewall was causing wires in the relay to vibrate and interfere with the radio/intercom. I un-tethered the relay, wrapped it in foam and all was fine. I guess you may not have such a relay, but worth a check.
Cheers, Jim.
