Listers,

I recently received quotes for renewal of my aircraft insurance. The 

insurance company was careful to note that the premium is the same as 

last year but "Effective  January 2007 the State of Florida is applying 

a surcharge of 3% to assist The Florida Hurricane Catatrophe Fund". This 

was the first that I heard of a surtax on aviation insurance. It is a 

very subtle, underhanded way to affect a small segment of the population 

who has only a small voice. How about trying to apply it to automobile 

insurance, gasoline, milk, bottled water etc?

Be ready Florida aircraft owners for your insurance renewal!!!
