Hi all,

When I was at Sun ‘n Fun last year Jeff and I got to talking and thought
that there were enough Europa aircraft now flying in the US for us to get
together for an annual fly in. I have got together with Jeff and over the
last few months we have researched venues and potential times.

Jeff and I would like to invite the Europa community to join us at Rough
River, Kentucky for an informal get together of flyers, builders and
aviation buffs from August 31 to September 2, 2007

Rough River is part of the Kentucky State Park system with its own airport
(2I3), camping facilities and a lodge, which is walking distance from the
airport. The lodge offers both rooms and cabin style accommodation.

Rough River offers walking trails, fishing, beach, golfing and a large
marina that has rental craft of all sizes available.

At the time of writing plenty of accommodation is available, however this
quickly fills as the weather warms up.

For more in Rough River take a look at

.609777%2C-86.506925%20(2I3)
For reservations call 800-325-1713

Please let me or Jeff know if you are contemplating attending. It would
help us better plan the event if we have an approximate head count.

Jeff can be contacted at topglock(at)cox.net
Paul can be contacted at paul.mcallister(at)qia.net

PS Please pass this onto anyone you know who is not on the Europa forum
list.

Hi Paul

I was thinking exactly the same especially as I now have my Europa over in
the USA (although not yet registered with the FAA). We live at an airpark in
Florida called Spruce Creek near Daytona and thought it would be a great
venue for a fly-in somewhere around Sun n Fun time as a lot of us will be in
the area anyway. Spruce Creek is a really neat place to visit if you haven't
been.Even though we no longer have John Travolta based here,we have all
kinds of aircraft and pilots from first world war tri-planes to modern jets
and there is usually some kind of airshow going on most afternoons. If
anyone is interested, then get in touch and I can try to arrange something
either just before or just after Sun n Fun.
Cheers

Alan

Hi Paul

No, I am not flying yet. Still getting organized after the move to Washington.

There are quite a few Europas on the Left Coast. Wouldn't it be better to have a Europa swarm in a more central location? Like Ellensburg Washinton? I mean like Kansas?

I agree central is better. however, whoever is hosting/forming up this event probably has location choosing rights.  I'm hoping I'll be in shape for long flying trips by summer but have my doubts as this 6 1/2 year project was originally supposed to be completed in two years

It would be great if there were Europa Fly In's on various dates in many different places around the country. That would give those who are flying trips to plan and those who are building a close by get together. If you'd like a Fly In near you, set it up. We're sure lots of folks will come.

Paul and I are hoping that the Europa Fly-in catches on, in the US, thus
producing several events each year. Lots of you folks are EAA members
and attend EAA sponsored fly-in, every year. Why not add to the
calendar with a few Europa specific fly-ins (all others invited, of
course). It's a great excuse to get out and fly...
