This is the rubber hose that clamps over the tank outlet and the
aluminum insert fitting (F09C). The ID of this hose is 1", but my tank
outlet nipple is about 1.15". This is a very rigid and unforgiving
hose, so it is hard to stretch. But even if I could force it I am
concerned if it might put excessive clamping force on the plastic
nipple. Or worse, it may be impossible to remove later without cutting
the tube, and then I might risk cutting into the underlying plastic
nipple as well.
Quote: | From the little bit I could gather from the label, this is Semperflex
Multi-Purpose Mineral Oil Hose, 25 Bar max pressure (350psi). This
|
rating sounds like an overkill to me.
My guess is that the fuel pressure at this point is not going to be
more than a couple of psi so chemical compatibility is more important
than pressure or wall thickness. I was thinking of replacing this with
a thinner more flexible Buna-N hose, but wanted to hear how other
builders solved this problem.

Andrew
We initially used the revised fittings from Graham Singleton. With those a larger inner diameter hose is needed.
One of those fittings backed out of the tank. So we made up new fittings with a lip to aid with retention. Our tank outlets are very close to 1 1/8 inch OD. We purchased preformed radiator hose whose ID is 1 1/8 and cut out straight sections to fit. Seems like we had to get preformed hoses because straight hose was not available in 1 1/8 inch. We replace these every 5 years and inspect every year.
I'll post a drawing of the fitting in the next couple of days. Currently having computer problems and can't print anything!
