Mike, Yes, it is too bad. It's been this way for quite awhile. Maybe Team
Kitfox is active, but I don't like the format of that site,.as I have
previously said. Pass words user names, etc. cumbersome and convoluted
compared to this site. Progress you know, designed by progressives   I
don't think I could have rebuilt my plane without this site. I still
solicit on this site when I need parts. There are still a few of us that
monitor the site.

No opinion on the shooting from the air, except to say that I would think the coyote might have the decided advantage unless you have some sort of minigun.

I do have an opinion on the list, though. I much prefer the list format and am still monitoring any traffic. In the old days, I read every post whether it was a Model I with 582 or a SS with 0-235. I learned a lot and learned to respect a lot of the guys with real names and real locations. After writing that, I realized I still do the same - I still read every post. With the "Topic" format, I find I don't read everything, especially the long discussions that don't interest much and I'm sure I miss a lot. I will often check the Personal Profiles on the TK Forum and am amazed how many guys want help or to help but are hiding behind screen names with little other identification and no location.

For nine years I hosted a Kitfox fly-in at my home in a residential airpark and the best part of it was the people. We'd get a hundred or so with thirty or forty airplanes. It wasn't the airplanes that drove the effort, but the people. Then to the factory fly-in. Real names from the list, vs. screen names from the Forum? I'm talking to some one and don't have a clue who I'm talking to because I only know him as "Lift Strut" or something.

Sorry for the rant,

Mike, Yes, it is too bad. It's been this way for quite awhile. Maybe Team
Kitfox is active, but I don't like the format of that site,.as I have
previously said. Pass words user names, etc. cumbersome and convoluted
compared to this site. Progress you know, designed by progressives I
don't think I could have rebuilt my plane without this site. I still
solicit on this site when I need parts. There are still a few of us that
monitor the site.

I think the forum format is much better...........
The daily digest here is nice and serves a great purpose.

To be honest the attitudes of a few made everyone leave.

still a great bunch of folks here -gotta switch sooner or
later..........
bt matronics runs a forum style as well as this list .........

any forum you can subscribe and get alerts on the topics.

I'm still here, and still flying Dan Denney's original model I, 85DD. I was never very active here as I was a late comer. I much prefer the TKF site format. As for username and logging in, you still have to have both on this site too if you want to view it from the internet. Why not get over the "tricks is for kids" attitude and join both. Be part of the Kitfox Family. It's a pretty good family to be part of.

In Montana, you have to get a permit from the Mt Dept of Livestock and get written permission from the landower to shoot coyotes from the air.
The Dept of Livestock has a helicopter and with the cooperation of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife govt trappers, shoot coyotes from the helicopter using a shotgun.
I have been told that on one of their best days they killed over 400 coyotes.

Steve, Your wrong about requiring signing in to this sight. Every post is automatically sent to my email. with the posters actual name.  When someone new comes on the sight without location we usually request a location. I suppose TKF is alright but compared to this sight it is cumbersome to say the least.

The mail list thing is Ok and I get the emails as well.

Dave, Great to hear from you. It's not silliness. It's more like laziness. Anytime I have to remember more or take additional time and effort to accomplish the same thing I'm out.
Simplicity is the name of the game. I guess if I have to get involved with TKF to accomplish something with my KF, I will. I already spend too damn much time at this computer. I'm a full 2 years behind on my Whittman Tailwind project and the motorcycles I'm rebuilding.

As a point of clarification, Steve, I AM on both lists, and have been for quite some time (as part of the "Kitfox family"). However, on the other list not everyone identifies themselves, as is evidenced by another person in the Denver area who does not share anything about himself, even in his profile. so I have no idea who he is. So, bottom line, I miss the activity on this list and the camaraderie that helped me build my aircraft starting twenty years ago.

It's obvious from the responses here that quite a few people do care. I, for one, would never trust my life to advice I got from someone who's not even willing to give me his name.
I think some of the decline in activity on this list is reflective of the decline in activity in general aviation overall. Have we done a poor job of passing the torch of personal flying to the next generation?

It appears that many do follow this list, when it is active. And when people are building they tend to post more than when they are flying. The TKF list seems to be the same way in that builders post more, flyers post less. I've never been a builder, but fly quite a bit. I wish flyers would post more as I love to hear about their adventures, techniques, how their planes fly, etc but I find very few posts on either site about actual flying, and I miss that. In fact, I find I also post very little about flying because when I do, there are very few responses and I end up feeling like I one of very few who fly, as well as I sometimes feel I'm hogging all the "let me tell you about my adventure" space.

I dunno what it is, but swappin' lies via the Internet just isn't nearly
as satisfying as swappin' 'em in the hangar. That's where real flyin'
