Pulsar Friends,
It has been over a year that my Garmin 396 would not keep time between flights, so I bought the $2.17 lithium rechargeable battery from Digi-Key to get this function working properly again.
I was a bit surprised that getting the 396 open, screen, printed circuit boards separated and getting to the board mounted button cell wasn't all that difficult. Anybody thinking of doing it, I think the only attention to detail that is needed is the delicate touch to desoldering to remove the battery, soldering the replacement battery and knowing how those board mounted ribbon cable connectors work (release and lock).
If you got one of these GPSs, for about $10 (they have to ship the button cell UPS) and around 20 minutes you can give the unit's internal clock, new life.
