TAS: 148 knots
Note: mechanical tach showed about 2750. Hard to say what it really is.

Gary, this picture makes the flaps look like they are lower than normal. Is that just the camera angle?

I always leave the flaps down. Accidentally stepping on one is very expensive. Once you get used to not needing to avoid stepping on the flap when you get in and out, you'll find it makes a lot of sense.

Gary, What I meant about the picture with the flaps down is that the flap angle looked like it was a lot lower than the typical Grumman. I do like your tip about leaving the flaps down on the ground. It would make it easier to reach the step and less chance of accidentally damaging the flaps. I wonder if this is the same reason I see almost all the RV’s with their flaps down in the ramp area.

Can you please tell me what your static RPM is on the ground And what prop do you have?
Thank you

This is a 75 Tiger and I don't think the flaps go down 45 degrees like on a newer Tiger. I haven't done anything on this plane other than cowling and interior.

The fairing is part of the cowling. I do make them and if my DER ever gets in gear with the other projects I have, I'll do an STC for it. Flights on two planes have shown a significant decrease in CHT.
By-the-way, this is the last cowling with the fairing. From now on, the bottom is flat. I may make something for the back of the nose strut, but . . . we'll see.

Gary,

I noticed also the fairing around the strut versus the rubber boot.

Is that something you designed and sell?

Richard

I did a quick static run before my first flight. It has a 63 inch pitch prop. It turned about 2300 on the tach. Hard to say what it really is.

Yes, George:
It is exactly the reason why RV'ers leave the flaps down. The flaps on an RV are NO WALK FLAPS in any position. There is NO walk way between the flaps and the fuselage as there is on a Grumman and as stated they are no walk flaps unlike the Piper. Which in the UP position can be walked on.
