Further to an earlier posting, does anyone have any information or photos of the Europa being used as a glider tug in Germany?

It struck me at the last LAA rally that pretty much anything with wings and a 912S was being promoted as a glider tug and trying to tap into the Eurofox success.

I'm guessing that cooling could be a big issue on the Europa though?

Phil

Phil
I believe that Erich Trombley visited with Walter Binder in Germany a couple of years back.  He might have some pictures.

Hi Bruno,

Would you happen to know how Walter Binder achieved putting fuel tanks in the wings ?  In particular did he substitute the Blue for something impervious to fuel ?

Hi Phil,

Walter Binders plane D-EPWB is a Classic Monowheel Kit 149 with Wing Fuel Tanks, elect. Retractable Outrigger Legs and a Tail Wheel with a mounting plate on top for the tow clutch. I am not quite sure if this was from an old Cessna Taildragger or a Husky.
He is using his own landing strip for towing the smaller glider he is manufacturing.
He also manufactures the EB 28 /29. Some years ago he had to use a parachute by test flying.

Paul, Bruno
There's another German builder whose name I forget, lives just North of Hamburg and recently did his first flight.
He copied Walter Binder's wing design wrt the outriggers. He probably knows how Walter did the tanks
I visited him once years ago with Norbert Hoffmann, (Norbert has died sadly)
