Good morning Gents,



Somewhat belatedly, I need to do the post-curing process…looking at the XS manual, I was surprised to find instructions which APPEAR to limit the need for post-curing on the XS model to the flaps, ailerons, rudder, horizontal tail planes and anti-servo tabs. I had thought that the ENTIRE wings and fuselage also needed to be post-cured…Am I mistaken?

Hi Fred, I'm sure it's only the flying surfaces that you have done the glass work on that need the post curing on to further strengthen their structure. For me building the classic wings I had to include the complete wing into my "oven". In fact on the video that's on the europa clubs web site ( it's the one that's in 3 parts ) when they talk about making the kit I'm sure they tell you that the fuselage is vacuum bagged and oven cured. Only the control surfaces need post-curing.  The wings and fuselage should have been done by the factory.

Just to add to that, anything made by hand layup. Be careful not to overheat the faom, it will expand!

The other consideration beyond heating control is the air circulation within the oven.

Make sure the hot air moves to all areas by addition of fans. Mine were incorporated into door as I recall.

Still managed to get an Aileron end to explode. Probably due to air pocket in lay up so good it happened.

It's fibre glass so repairs are easy....
