It's Sun n Fun again and I will be at the show on Thursday. If there are any owners/builders/interested parties about on Thursday at 11.00am come to Bud's display stand for a meet and greet and a special announcement from the Europa Club. See you there.

Yesterday, on behalf of the Europa Club committee, I was delighted to award Bud Yerly with the Cliff and Betty Shaw Trophy for outstanding support for the Europa family around the world and especially in the Americas. At a small but select group of owners/builders at Sun'n'Fun it was great to meet Bud again, in the warmth of the Florida sunshine (just to rub it in). To add to the moment it was good to have Ivan Shaw alongside me to congratulate Bud and I know several photos were taken and hopefully will find their way to the website via me (thank you gents).

 



Bud has helped many Europas into and back into the air over many years, tackling problems with Jabiru engines along the way, and as he said to me yesterday, thanking each day for the joy of working with such a capable aircraft.

 



I know you will all join with me congratulating Bud for this award and recognition of his work and support for the Europa family.

Congratulations to Bud Yerly. Bud clearly deserves the honor of the gold cup for all the support he gives to the Europa builders and flyers here in the US. Without Bud at the helm here in the US, I would feel very isolated as a flyer and if I were still a builder I'd feel even more lost. He has helped me a lot over the years. It was nice to see him, meet his lovely wife Anita, and see all the other Europa folks at Sun N Fun 2014. Sorry I missed some of you. 



It was a pleasant surprise to see Ivan Shaw again after so many years. I still remember well the intro ride he gave me at Sun N Fun 1997 where he did an loop and roll in "ELSA" the second Europa built. I was sold on this Graceful bird. To date, I now have 240 hours on "Lil Grace".
