I got this from my FB but wanted to get to guys who may be able to give a hand. We're getting a lot of request for fly overs as these guys pass on. A couple weeks ago we were able to help down here in Florida for a Vet who son had seen a YouTube piece of some our guys out in CA.
Jim "Pappy" Goolsby
WWII Vet fly over request in the Philadelphia area. Please read.
As I write you this note, my father is dying. His is still of complete sound mind, but is ready to pass on as his body is now completely betraying him at almost 89 years of age. My father is a WWII veteran. He was in the Army Air Corps. If you Google Charles F. Sauermelch, it will direct you to a web page for Crew 22, 61st Squadron, 39th Bomb Group.http://39th.org/39th/aerial/61st/crew22a.html That's my dad! He was a sergeant and a CFC Gunner. He loved airplanes then and still does to this day.
When it became evident that it would soon be his time, he mentioned that having a fly over at his burial "might be a nice way to go" (quote from him). I realize the almost impossibility of this with the enormous cost involved, but I thought I would check into anyway.
I know you are located in California. We are in Pennsylvania, and I was just wondering if you have any contact information for anyone in the Philadelphia area who does what you do out in California. I think it would be such a great tribute to a man who did so much and asked for so little in his lifetime. It would mean the world to my family.
Anyway, thank you for what you do to honor the veterans in your area, and I appreciate any information that you could give me with regards to my request.
Sincerely,
Barbara Sherlock
