|
|
I posted this on Vansairforce yesterday buthavnt found out what I need to know so I will repost here. Apologies if you have to suffer my problems twice!
I am working on the structure that supports the roll bar. It is supported by a piece of 1"*12 angle about 1/3 of which, according to the plans sits completely hiden by the F-416 canopy rail and about 2/3 of which causes you to cut the canopy rail and flatten it out... you remember.
My first attempt resulted in about a 1/4" sticking out at the front as shown in the first picture at http://gikonfuse.blogspot.com/
In the second picture I have shimed the F-417 against the F406 bulkhead and now as you can see the front end of the angle is about flush with the canopy rail.
Should it work out to the plans or has everyone had this problem.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Steve

It looks about right to me,,The angle is supposed to sit at an angle,, take the roll bar and "dry fit" to the canopy rails.
Just set it on top of the rails and the angles should match.

Hi Steve,
Derrick is correct....You need to build to fit. Be very carefull and check edge distances closely for the mounting bolts. As I recall, there's not alot of room for error.
