Hi all,

Because of the withdrawal of support by Microsoft of XP I have installed Windows 7. This has brought with it a change of e-mail format to Live Mail which ,of course, is different to the old system. Not better. Just different.

Can someone tell me please how to wipe out all the previous messages in a series and just pick out a sentence to give a clue what the subject is in the message to which a reply is being sent.

Previously I just blocked a sentence and copied and pasted it to my reply. That doesn`t seem to work any more. the damn thing will insist of reprinting all the previous messages.

Pat- Go to the end of the last line that you want to delete, press the left button on the mouse, and then press and hold the backspace button. The cursor will go backwards, wiping out one letter at a time. Works for me.

pat...

after hitting the reply button.... do a click and drag to highlight the text you want to copy to the new message,,,,,, then hit “ctrl c “ that will copy the selected text,,, then hit “ctrl a” ( select all) that will highlight all of the text in the original message. then hit “ctrl v” that will paste the text you want to copy to the new message and eliminate all else that was highlighted in the “ctrl a “ step....

it works for me,,, but your side of the pond may have different rules...

I fought with Live Mail for a couple months, the final straw came as I was using it for our aircraft club email newsletters and it became selective about how many of the Bcc addresses it would send, randomly leaving out 2/3's of the list.

Now I use Live Mail only for my incoming unimportant mail accounts, and Thunderbird for the important stuff.
