why does it only go in 1/2 inch....  is the fitting out of round,  is there 

a shoulder that the gear hits,  is there a weld that has deformed the 

material?



could it be that you have to take a drill and clean the fitting out?   or a 

small hone and polish the fitting?



kind of hard to see from here.       could you take a piece of dowel, tape 

on a piece of sand paper, put it in a drill and polish out some metal till 

it fits better.

I'm trying to attach my aluminum gear leg to the axle fitting but it will 

only go a half inch or so into the fitting.
