I've looked on this forum and Internet to find an answer to this question as I'm sure this will have been asked before but I'm unable to find an answer.

The build manual refers to the old design where you drill tp10 sleeves o ensure minimum/zero lateral movement of the torque tube. However the new design has pre drilled tp10 plastic sleeves . Therefore no mechanism to remove end float by sizing the tp10 sleeves. I can only assume that this has be achieved during the bonding of tp11 bearings.

The new torque Tube is not referenced in the build manual and I can find no modification that introduces it. Am I missing something?

Alan

Hi Alan,

I have the new torque tube as well. Have you asked the factory about this? If so, any response?

Phil

I posed the question to Europa the same time I posted on here. I'll send the response when I get it.

I received the following response from Europa but i'm still not 100% happy with just "trim to fit". Anyone else fitted this new standard torque tube that can offer advice?

Quote:
Dear Alan,

I have looked into the issue you raised and fully agree that the on-line instructions do not in their entirety refer to the current tailplane torque tube standard. The latest standard has pre-drilled shouldered black plastic sleeves fitted, ref: pt no. TP38 rather than the undrilled plain white sleeves, ref: pt no. TP10.

As soon as possible we will proceed to update the online assembly instructions to include the latest design standard whilst retaining the existing instructions for the previous design standard.

But in the mean time you may proceed with your tailplane assembly as I believe the only additional instruction you require, ref: Step 6 onwards is to "Trim the outboard ends of the pre-drilled shouldered TP 38 sleeves in order to achieve the no end float requirement".

In the previous design you had to determine the hole positions in order to achieve the no end float requirement, mark the hole centers and drill them.

Many thanks

Alan[/b]

Further to the above, I'm now at the stage of fitting the tailplane torque tube but contrary to my first post it appears the new pre-drilled black bushes are too short giving a total of nearly 12mm of end float. I've taken some dimensions noted in the attached. I've sent a query to Europa.

Hi Alan,

Are you saying that the Issue 1 part is correct and the up-issued version is now wrong?

I've no idea what version I have - do you dimensions of the two versions?

Regards,

Phil

Hi Phil,

Yes I have the issue 2 TP38s and I need the issue 1 and there is one other builder that has contacted me who has the same problem.

The following information was provided by Europa.
Issue 2 TP38s are 1.625" long
Issue 1 TP38s are 2.25" long.

Best regards

Alan

Many thanks Alan,

I'll go and see what I have.

You seem to be the 'NG' kit pioneer, breaking new ground, from what I can tell !
