Gents and Ladies,

I am running out of oil in my drum and looking for a ‘reasonable’ source for a 55 Gal drum of the Phillips X/C Aviation Oil 25W-60 for my M-14 Powered CJ…

Looking on-line I find prices range from $832.00 to above 1,000.00 (!) not including shipping cost of over $200…

Thanks in advance for sharing the info J

Talk to your local Phillips distributor and see what deal he can extend. Look in the Yellow Pages under Lubricants for a start.  I purchase all my oils and greases (Aeroshell and Phillips XC) directly from the distributor. I’m probably not getting the lowest, dealer cost (I’m told there are several pricing layers as you have found with Internet pricing) but I am not buying at the retail level. Also, the truck will deliver right to the hangar.

For purchasing 55 gallons at one time, you should receive some type of consideration!

I've found that buying the gallon or 2.5 gallon jugs works out to almost the same unit price as buying the drum ... and it's a lot more convenient.
