The use of flex additive in paint. How important?

Keith;
Necessary to avoid cracking if you are using anything other than a "dope"
based finish.
Particularly on upper surface where cracking exposes synthetic fabric to UV
radiation.

Keith,
Yes, flex agent should be used as it extends the time between cracks in the paint. Some have stabilized the surfaces with foam, which I believe helps.

Phil,
Interesting, are they forming the foam blocks with hot wire and are they placing between the rids. If so how are they securing the blocks to the structures?

I used DuPont ChromaOne paint 17 years ago on my control surfaces.
No special flex agent- no cracks- still flexible.
