This is a further test of the Quiet tech. ear buds. https://www.quiettechnologies.com/. The picture (ear buds) shows the mic muff that comes with the set. I have installed the rubber ear buds on the unit rather than the foam ones. They are much easier to keep clean, install in the ear canal much easier. They are not as quiet as the foam however.

One of the things that caused me some surprise was in using side tone on my intercom. You are aware that without the side tone, you cannot hear yourself talk in the mic. I had to almost turn the squelch to off on my intercom or the engine noise would activate the side tone feature and I would hear the full throated roar of the engine. Even when I got it to where the side tone did not activate by itself, when I did talk, the engine noise was very loud. John Hauck asked about using the Oregon Aero mic muff. Link below:

I installed it this morning and since it was pretty quiet, ( 3.5 mph) rolled the plane out for a test. The difference is remarkable. All the annoying engine noise is almost gone. It also cut down by a couple of percentage points the engine noise that the one that I am talking to hears. In fact I am having trouble understanding why the manufacturer of the ear buds does not supply these with the unit. It makes that much difference. I was having such a good time that when I called for landing, I was informed that I would have a 16 mph cross wind. I had to ask again, to make sure. I guess I was having so much fun I didn't realize that a front had come in. No problem however.
Its taken a bit of tweaking, but I am very happy with them.
Larry
