After rereading the Yakolev website discription of the 52M, I stand corrected on the wings. They were modified to improve stall characteristics. The feet are still external to the wing and hence are a source of drag as it appears from the three provided photos. They still use a modified Clark Y Airfoil. The stated max speed is 360 kmph, so what would we be getting for extra cruise out of those wings? You get 190 lts in fuel so that is alittle better than where we are now with stock 52's. Still have to say for the cost if I were going to put a new set of wings on my duece, I would do the TD conversion or pray the Russians decide to produce the 152 if you just have an aversion to tail dragging. I am sure the 152 will come at a significantly higher cost if it is ever put into mass production.
