Hi Lar,
thanks for your sympathy. You may be in the air before me now.
Told my sad story to an ex commercial pilot last night who responded with this one.
In the days when automatics were beginning to be introduced into commercial cockpits this particular airline included in the cockpit start up drill full movement of the throttles and check that the automatics `followed through`.
The pilot of a big Boeing suddenly remembered that he had not done this drill and, forgetting that they had just fired up the engines, went to full throttle. and lifted the entire roof off the hangar. The roof settled back on to the walls but the whole thing had to be dismantled and rebuilt.
That made me feel better. But not much.
