Hi,
Regardless whether one coats or plates the nose gear tube, there still
will be a wear problem since
sand and dust will be deposited on the gear and wear out the nylon. I
used a somewhat
different solution. I made a nose gear fairing that encloses the strut.
Underneath the fairing I
lubricate the bearing with grease once a year. Almost no dirt gets into
the grease,
and the wear has essentially stopped. For a look at the fairing, go to
